Design Africa was established in 2002 and is a Knysna based company representing a wide portfolio of dcor and finishes products directly imported from various countries. One of Design Africa main lines includes an exclusive range of leather products imported from Argentina. Natural CowhidesThe natural cowhides that we commercialize are qualified as finish product. They are not manufactured from parts of endangered animals or in risk of extinction.The hairy cowhides are natural pieces, for that unique and one of a kind.All of the hairy hides that we sell are from South America. Their suggested use is for decorative purposes, such as rugs, tapestries, etc. They could also be used as raw material for upholstery.Animal printed and dyed cowhidesThe description and the characteristics of the natural cowhides apply to these cowhides, adding the process of printing and/or dying with pigments.Cushion covers The raw material used for the making of this product is the hairy hide and/or printed/dyed hairy hide. The back cover can be of the same material, or fabric, sued or upholstery leather. A zipper is used as closing. The front and the back covers are sewn to each other.Leather patchwork rugsThe patchwork rugs are manufactured from tiles hairy hides (natural, animal printed and/or dyed). The stitching used for their making could vary between zigzags, double or with handmade leather strips, depending on the design that has been chosen.The sizes of the tiles can be from 10x10 cm until 50x50 cm.Pull-up waxed cow leather rugsThe rugs made of pull-up waxed cow leather are made of tiles of this material. The patches are glued to a cotton fabric that works as a stitching support before being sewn with a parallel needlework. The designs of the rugs made of this kind of leather are as described below:
