This is a civil corporation, nonprofit, mixed in nature, designed to promote and generate technological capabilities in order to continuously improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of companies in the Colombian Emerald´s sector. Because of that one of its main responsibilities is to promote confidence and sales in Colombian emeralds through scientific analysis and certification. Emeralds certified by the CDTEC lab undergo inspection by both a certified chemist and a GIA trained gemologist using the latest digital equipment. This gemological laboratory has been created in a joint venture by the Colombian government&＃039;s institutions and FEDESMERALDAS. The National Government Institutions involved are: INGEOMINAS – It was transformed in 2011 to “Servicio Geológico Colombiano” (Colombian Geological Service), which it will have functions related with ANM “Agencia Nacional de Minería” (National Agency for Mining). SENA - Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje - (National Service for Learning) PROEXPORT COLOMBIA. FEDESMERALDAS: Federación Nacional de Esmeraldas de Colombia (National Federation of Colombian Emeralds) is integrated by: APRECOL: Asociaciones de: Productores de Esmeraldas de Colombia (Producers´ Association of Colombian Emeralds). ACODES: Asociación Colombiana de Exportadores de Esmeraldas (Colombian Association for Emerald Exporters). ASOCOESMERAL: Asociación del Comercio en Esmeraldas (Association for Emeralds´ Trade) All gems are appraised in Houston, TX, by Steven M Silver, Gemologist Certified by GIA and President of Jewelry Appraisal Services. The appraisals will be given to the customers along with the gems to provide the value of the gems at the time of purchase.
