Chennai Business School was ranked among the top 50 B-schools in the country (ranking without IIMs) in a comprehensive survey of business schools conducted by The Times Group. The survey conducted by The Times Group set itself apart from other B-school surveys by including key stakeholders so as to make the survey more broad based and reflect the opinions of the different stakeholder segments. The survey involved two components: perceptual and fact-based surveys. As part of the perceptual survey a structured questionnaire was administered in face-to-face interviews or over the e-mails to fCbschennai key stakeholder segments: current attendees, MBA aspirants, alumni and recruiters. A target of 2161 respondents was achieved across eight cities: Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The respondents were asked to rate the B-schools based on seven parameters: quality of students, quality of faculty, quality of academic inputs, quality of physical infrastructure, value placed by the market on a student, international initiatives and engagement initiatives. The information collected highlighted the importance of the seven parameters using a 100-point chip sum game. It also provided the ranking of the respondent’s top 10 B-schools on each of the seven parameters. A fact based survey was conducted wherein the Deans of 250 B-schools were contacted over the e-mail consisting of a structured questionnaire link. Out of the list of 250 B-schools contacted, 51 participated in the fact based survey. The importance of the seven parameters using a 100-point chip sum game was collected.
