Phoenix chemicals (pvt) ltd, manufacturers of goodearth, highly activated bleaching earths, commenced commercial production in the year 1991. The company based in Karachi owns two manufacturing units, one situated in the hub industrial estate lasbela 30 km from Karachi and the other at sheikhupura near lahore with total production capacity of 12000 tons per annum
The main objective of the company is to manufacture highly activated bleaching earth suitable for bleaching, refining and de-colPhoenix Chemicals (Pvt) Limitedization of animal & vegetable oils, fats, industrial and mineral oils and lubricants from indigenous raw materials. The various grades so produced are of international standard and are in use since last ten years by all national and multi-national companies and commands 90% of the market share. It is the only pakistani activated bleaching earth (fullersearth) which is being exported in several south-Asian countries and the middle east.
The company owns bentonite mines in the north west frontier province and is thus assured of uninterrupted supply of raw materials. The company is professionally managed and employs more than 200 personnel. Our quality control department is geared up and determined to provide and maintain impeccable levels of quality in respect of all key properties of activated bleaching earth, spearheaded by the ultra high bleachibilty performance.
Quality assurance
Our laborities are well equipped with instrumentation and are manned by qualified and highly experienced staff. They function round the clock in three shifts and render full support to plant operations.
Stage wise inprocess sampling and testing is carried out to assure that the process is always within the prescribed parameters.
Sample of end product are frequently and continuously drawn and tested rigidly for all properties viz bleachibility, acidic properties, water content, particle size distribution and filtration properties, oil retention, peroxide value etc.
Bleachibility
This is the most important property in the manufacture of goodearth activated clays and the object is to obtain as high and as constant a bleaching activity of each type. For determination of bleaching activity, a standard oil is bleached with a standard bleaching earth and our goodearth sample to be checked against it. The colour of both bleached oils are compared colorimetrically with each other. The colour determinations are done in a lovibond tintometer and only known samples which surpass the high bleachibility limits fixed by us are earmarked for marketing.
Advantages of using highly active goodearth bleaching earths.
In production of goodearth bleaching earth. All efforts have been focused on attaining the highest bleaching power for various oils with minimum use of bleaching earth and minimum oil loss.
The diagram below clearly shows the superior effect of goodearth compared with non activated natural earth. As can be seen, the required degree of decolonization can nor be achieved with natural earths. Not even with extremely high dosages. On the other hand, the goodearth decolorizing function shows that even comparatively low dosages of our bleaching clays are sufficient to attain maximum decolonization.
