In August 1959 , 24-years old Manfred Bttcher bought the FritzKhne Company, until then the company had been specialized inmarketing machine tools. Two employees and two apprentices operatedthe company from Hamburg BillALKA engineering servicerder.1960 the company became the German trade representative of theBelgium branch of the Norwegian crane manufacturer Munck. But soonafter they opened their own branch, Manfred Bttcher foundedKHNEZUG.1965 another KHNEZUG company was founded: the KHNEZUG Kran- undContainerbau GmbH in Hamburg, Quickborn. Then the KHNEZUG-Group,which is today's name, was for the first time in possession of herown production. They produced hoists following a newtechnology.1968 KHNEZUG Kran- und-Containerbau was sold and KHNEZUGHandelsgesellschaft renamed to KHNEZUG Hebezeuge, located inHamburg Billstedt. Already at that time KHNEZUG was usingdensified polyamid wheels to reduce the amount of noise and saveweight, which resulted in a smooth crane handling.By trying to manufacture the main girder in a simpler way, the ideaof the oval girder emerged, which is produced by pressing steelpipes in an oval shape. Complicated welding works could be saved.Together with engineers from the company Kampnagel the idea wasfurther developed. Already in 1970 the first test with an oval maingirder was held at the shipyard Blohm & Voss in Hamburg.
