Briefly Marquetry is the highest art form in wood using different colors of carefully cut and precisely fitted wood veneers to create designs. There are hundreds of species of wood which when used cleverly, offer myriad shades of differing exotic colors.
We start on by sketching the whole plan of art and then decide which shade of wooden veneer would be appropriate for that particular portion. Then using a fret saw blade it is hand cut very carefully and each of the piece is fitted like a jig saw puzzle. Then layer by layer the differing dimensions are brought to life. Techniques of sculpting are incorporated too into the creation of what you are marveling right now. It is bound by rosewood frame and teak wood beading which lasts a lifetime when not exposed to moisture.
