Company Description

Green Establishment is a cutting-edge Warsaw fashion label. The idea to form a common label was born in 2003 in the heads of two young fashion designers � Kamila Kanclerz and Kinga Kowalewska. The company which they both worked for was producing clothing in China, India and Bangladesh, so the designers never had any direct, physical contact with the pieces that they designed. The final effect, produced in a factory thousands of miles away, often had very little in common with the designer�s initial concept and vision. This experience inspired Kamila and Kinga to form a line of clothing which resounded with individuality. They decided that the only way to do this was through constant dialogue betGreen Establishmenten the designer and the people making the clothes - during the initial design stage, through the construction process, to the sewing, finishing and displaying of each piece. In 2005, the opportunity arose to work with the Polish-German arts platform Elektropopklub where the idea for the LOCAL WEAR was formed. The clothes were sewn within a two week workshop time span and were inspired by the atmosphere of the industrial Polish town of Bytom. The project resulted in a photo session entitled �ON REAL BODIES� (shot by the talented photographer and cinematographer, Bartek Kaczmarek), which used local Bytom girls as models. The idea of LOCAL WEAR evolved into a living, breathing label � Green Establishment. Things really got going when the design team was joined by Marzena Swat and Iwona Kwasiborska who brought to the label their business expertise. So, that�s how Green Establishment was formed � a nonchalant clothing line which combines the elegant with a �street bum� style. Each piece in the collection has its own story - just like the city of Warsaw which has ghosts of past eras hiding around every corner.
