Greensoils Pvt Ltd, a proud member of the Chandra Senanayake Holdings, is a leading manufacturer and exporter of natural (organic) growing media solutions to meet the diversified needs of the professional groGreen Soils (pvt) Ltdrs. Having established in 1991 as a Board of Investment company, Greensoils has mastered the art of providing professional growing media solutions as per specific international customer needs. In recognition of the higher degree of standards being maintained in the production processes, ISO certification has been awarded to the company. Due to the company’s environmental friendly approach in doing its business and the manner in which its corporate social responsibility is discharged, Greensoils became the winner of the National Green Job Award in 2011. Greensoils as a trend setter in creating a greener world through environment friendly solutions for growers, manufactures its wide range of products using coir (also popularly known as coconut pith or fiber dust) as its only raw material without using any artificial ingredients therein. Coir or coconut dust is essentially a waste or a byproduct taken out during the coconut fiber milling process and it is a direct substitute for other popular growing media like peat moss, perlite and rock wool. Due to its inherent characteristics, root stimulation properties and price, coir is going to be the most preferred growing media amongst professional growers in near future. Till 2010, the company had been operating with a single production facility since its inception in 1991. However due to increased demand for Greensoils products during the recent past by international customers, the second factory came into operation in 2010. In addition to its two production facilities at Naththandiya (a town situated in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka), its logistic hub is based in Colombo for easy coordination with the customers and other service providers. A company started with 3 employees then, has grown by many folds today with 600 employees working in the whole process. Equally, its export volume has also increased greatly to meet the multicultural customer needs from France, Japan, South Africa, USA, Poland, Belgium, Ghana and Egypt.
