Gold foil is Nanjing Gold-Thread & Gold-Foil General Factory national traditional handicraft. Its production process has more than 1,000 years of history. The forging industry of gold leaf originates in the area around Longtan Town in Qixia District, Nanjing, China. In 2006, the State Council announced the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection projects and Nanjing Forging Techniques of Gold Foil was included in the directory.
