The materials extracted and processed by Toscana Pietra are, sandstones and other stones typical of the area of Firenzuola, a city close to Florence. Toscana Pietra extracts the stones from its own quarries. The blocks are taken to the Toscana Pietra workshops (company premises include office building, show room and workshops and occupy an area of 20.000 square meters), where they are processed to obtain slabs and tiles of any size in accordance with the customer requirements, and urban decoration elements as Toscana Pietrall. Pietra Serena is the classic stone of Tuscany historic town centres, used in the past and still used today for restoration and new-build work. It is appreciated for its uniform grey colouring and for its versatility in combination with other materials such as terracotta, marble and wood. The core product of Toscana Pietra, is the Pietra Medicea®, a sandstone, very appreciated for its fine, close, uniform grain and for its consistent grey/light blue colouring. It is perfect in building used by great numbers of people, due to its qualities of toughness and wear resistance. Pietra Medicea® is a trademark registered by Toscana Pietra, owner of the only quarry in the world where this kind of stone is extracted. Whoever deal with this material has the guarantee of non competition with a material like this one. Another local stone is the Pietra Forte Colombino, a sandstone/limestone. The production is limited and it is therefore used in up-market areas as a highly valued decorative feature. Toscana Pietra’s finished products are perfect both for private and public building projects. Toscana Pietra is able to realize a number of finishing operations on cut materials, including bush-hammering, scoring, chiselling and flame-finishing.
